To obtain a dog license, please visit City Hall and provide a copy of the current rabies vaccination certificate. Once issued, licenses are good through June 30 of each year regardless of when a license is issued. Dog licenses are important because they enable officials to make sure all animals are vaccinated, thereby avoiding dangerous outbreaks of diseases. Having a license also makes it easier to reunite lost animals with their owners.
The Paramount Municipal Code lists a number of animals that residents are not allowed to keep as pets. These include: poultry, fowl, sheep, goats, horses, wild animals like monkeys and dangerous reptiles, and other beasts of burden.
