PUBLIC SERVICE ASSISTANT - DESK (At-Will/Hourly/Part-Time/Non-Sworn Position)

QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: High school graduation or equivalent required. Two years of college course work desirable.

Knowledge and Ability: Ability to answer phones using proper telephone techniques and etiquette; interact with the public in a polite and courteous manner; obtain accurate information through interview and observation; analyze situations quickly and objectively; acquire a working knowledge of various applicable California Code and Paramount Municipal Code; express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; maintain a good working relationship with the public and fellow employees; work with minimal supervision. Ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable.

License Required: Valid Class C California Driver License and acceptable driving record.

GENERAL DUTIES: Under general supervision, the Public Service Assistant will perform a variety of duties within the Public Safety Department including, but not limited to answering telephones; handling walk-in traffic at the Paramount Sheriff's substation; utilizing the Sheriff's Mobile Digital computer system; handling radio traffic on both the City and Sheriff's radio frequencies; interacting with the District Attorney's office on subpoena service; operating a City vehicle; performing general clerical functions including data entry and filing; responding to verbal and written complaints, including requests for information from the public; and performs other duties as assigned.

HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (At-Will/Hourly/Part-Time)

QUALIFICATIONS:  Education and Experience: Completion of two (2) years of college course work in Human Resources, Business/Public Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field, and one (1) year of professional Human Resources experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Knowledge of: current trends and practices of HR administration; methods and techniques of recruitment, selection, classification, compensation, benefits administration, and training; federal and state laws, rules, and regulations relating to employment practices; principles and practices of risk management including workers compensation. Skills in: Eden or similar Human Resource System; Microsoft Office, including not limited to, Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint. Ability to: maintain confidential and sensitive information; establish and maintain effective working relationships with applicants, employees, management, officials, and the general public; conduct research, perform analysis, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, interpret and apply related laws, ordinances, and resolutions.

License/Certification Required:  Valid Class C California Driver License and acceptable driving record.

GENERAL DUTIES:  Under direction of the HR Manager, the HR Assistant will provide assistance with various HR functions including, but not limited to, recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, workers' compensation, FMLA, CalPERS, COBRA, and the interpretation of City's Personnel Resolution and other employment laws. The HR Assistant will also be responsible for providing support to other City Department personnel including management, full/part-time employees, and the general public. General duties will include the preparation, maintenance and processing of personnel documents including Personnel Action Forms; compilation and summarization of data and preparation of findings; provide assistance with organization of employee events; perform other duties as assigned.

MAINTENANCE AIDE (At-Will/Hourly/Part-Time Position)

SALARY: $12.21 - $14.84 per hour, appointment is generally made at the beginning step; approximately 20 hours per week - scheduling includes weekday and weekend shifts

MAINTENANCE AIDE (At-Will/Hourly/Part-Time Position)

QUALIFICATIONS:  Education and Experience: High school graduation or equivalent desirable. Requires recent paid maintenance experience.
Knowledge and Ability: Knowledge of the routine tasks relating to maintenance work. Ability to perform various types of heavy manual labor, repetitively lift up to 80 pounds, operate heavy equipment, work outdoors, safely operate power equipment used in grounds, building, road, and water maintenance; perform work requiring physical strength and dexterity; follow oral and written directions and work with fellow employees and the public.
License Required: Valid Class C California Driver License and acceptable driving record.

GENERAL DUTIES:  Under supervision, performs variety of maintenance duties for the City. May include mowing and edging of landscape; cleans drinking fountains, restroom facilities, and roadways; collects trash. Installs, maintains, paves, and patches asphalt and concrete streets and parking areas; builds forms for sidewalks; pours cement. Repair of electrical, electronic, plumbing and irrigation systems; maintenance of vehicle fleets; carpentry, painting, woodworking, and other building maintenance related projects. Reports work progress; submits purchase requisitions for materials and equipment and performs other duties as assigned.
