QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Completion of two years college course work and 48 completed semester units required. One year of professional human resources experience desirable.
Knowledge and Ability: Knowledge of current trends and practices of municipal human resource administration. Knowledge of employee classification, compensation and benefits, recruitment, selection, and training. Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with applicants, employees, officials, and the general public. Knowledge of current office methods and equipment. Candidate must have exceptional customer service skills, as well as excellent interpersonal, organizational, written communication and follow-up skills. He or she must be able to perform in a fast paced environment and manage multiple projects in an efficient, timely manner.
License Required: Valid Class C California Driver License and acceptable driving record.
GENERAL DUTIES: Under supervision of Human Resources Manager, will perform a variety of HR related functions. Responsibilities will include: create and distribute job flyers, open recruitments and post recruitments on City's website and job hotline; data entry for applicant tracking; send correspondence pertaining to recruitment status; assist with the scheduling and execution of interviews and examination times for all positions; assist with the organization of HR sponsored employee events and meetings; employee data entry into HR software system; update personnel files; work on special projects assigned by the HR Manager; respond to general HR inquires and assist with the preparation of departmental budget. Other duties as assigned.
SELECTION PROCEDURES: The most qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the City's testing and interview process. Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a background investigation. The top candidate will be offered employment conditionally upon satisfactorily passing a health screening, which will be conducted at City expense. Proof of legal right to work in the United States will be required prior to employment. The City reserves the right in its absolute discretion to change any of the selection procedures or cancel the recruitment based upon its business needs. The City may change the duties of the position at any time.
