QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that results in satisfactory job performance including high school graduation or equivalent; coursework and vocational training in one or more of the building maintenance and construction trades, including electrical, carpentry, plumbing and painting; experience in the previously mentioned trades and supervision are desirable.
Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of: Principles of electrical construction, maintenance, and repairs; building and facility construction, repair methods and techniques including carpentry and plumbing; specialized tools and equipment used in building and facilities maintenance; safety standards and practices; effective customer services techniques. Ability to: perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work related to public buildings and facilities; perform electrical maintenance and repair work such as installing and wiring service panels and subpanels and repairing defective wiring; work from plans and schematics; safely operate hand and power tools, including metering and testing devices; work on ladders or lifts and work in confined spaces; establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work; communicate effectively orally, lift and move heavy objects; exercise independent judgment.
License Required: Possession of a Class C California Driver License and satisfactory driving record required at time of appointment.
GENERAL DUTIES: Under general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Senior Maintenance Worker installs/replaces new/old wiring for electric meter services, switches, conduits, panels, lighting, motors and controls; installs electric meters, switches and various electrical items including switchboards and electrical control equipment; performs general maintenance on switches, panels, pumps, wells and other motors, generators, light and power circuits including park lighting systems, conduit and duct systems; electrical installation and maintenance of heating and air conditioning equipment; performs safety evaluations of various portable and stationary electrical equipment and repairs accordingly; inspects buildings and facilities; reviews service requests; determines maintenance and repair needs; troubleshoots and repairs low line and high voltage problems; constructs, installs, repairs and/or replaces basic building components such as windows, doors, shelves, counters, cabinets, locks and lock sets, fixtures, flooring, roofing, and drainage problems; swimming pool maintenance and repair; utilizes power tools in order to perform construction and repair work; performs other duties as assigned.
WAGE: $12.21 - $14.84 per hour

Knowledge and Ability: Knowledge of the routine tasks relating to maintenance work. Ability to perform various types of heavy manual labor, repetitively lift up to 80 pounds, operate heavy equipment, work outdoors, safely operate power equipment used in grounds, building, road, and water maintenance; perform work requiring physical strength and dexterity; follow oral and written directions and work with fellow employees and the public.
License Required: Valid Class C California Driver License and acceptable driving record.
GENERAL DUTIES: Under supervision, performs variety of maintenance duties for the City. May include mowing and edging of landscape; cleans drinking fountains, restroom facilities, and roadways; collects trash. Installs, maintains, paves, and patches asphalt and concrete streets and parking areas; builds forms for sidewalks; pours cement. Repair of electrical, electronic, plumbing and irrigation systems; maintenance of vehicle fleets; carpentry, painting, woodworking, and other building maintenance related projects. Reports work progress; submits purchase requisitions for materials and equipment and performs other duties as assigned.
