Paramount, the City, on Screen!
The City was featured on television and online (connected to the big screen) this week as Jerry Seinfeld drove a Paramount-related vehicle and Quentin Tarantino released his latest opus with scenes shot in town.
Episode 9 of the new season of Seinfeld’s Netflix show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with comic Mario Joyner involved a 1974 Volkswagon Thing that was completely redone by the VW Wizards of Old Speed in Paramount. Jerry called proprietor Russell Ludwig “a master of VW prestidigitation.”
Then Los Angeles Magazine ran a story on locations used in Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which opened on Thursday, July 25. “Now you can lounge, dine, and party from Paramount to Malibu like the stars playing the stars …” the piece stated. Brad Pitt’s character lives in a trailer next door to the Van Nuys Drive-In Theater. That theater is gone, but the Paramount Drive In lives! And was used for those scenes.
